Music Video

Within my music video, I am planning to create a narrative video also containing performance and dance in order to appeal to the target demographic of a fun-loving 16-25 target audience. Within my music video, a group of teenage boys are fed up with their boring lives, however, when they go outside they discover a mysterious object. The object suddenly turns them all 50 years older. They then decide to do parkour, drink out of pure excitement, however quickly realise that they have physical boundaries. The main purpose of the music video is for them to realise to appreciate the time they have when they are young and what they are physically still able to enjoy before they get too old. This will potentially take place in a street, as well as a home/garden or a field. The social groups are old vs. young and a binary opposition could be old vs. young. I shall include a specific colour scheme of clothing within my music video suited to the style I choose for my website design. By integrating the same colours between both the music video and the website, this will create a coherent and distinct association between the two. I will also try and use bright, joyful colours in order to further appeal to the 16-25 fun-loving demographic. Also, filming on sunny, clear days may additionally emphasise the entertaining, joyful atmosphere, thus appealing to the target audience. My music video is intended to create a sense of realism and to convey how we should appreciate and enjoy being young and the little things in life. Although this may seem fairly serious, I will produce this music video in order to appeal to a fun-loving audience by including funny dancing/performance as well as comedic scenes throughout the music video. I will also use the crystal/object (which turns the people old) in both my music video and my website. The use of this inter-textuality portrays the connection and link between the two, therefore, making the audience find it easier to understand and distinguish the symbolic importance of the crystal/object when watching the music video or visiting the website. My video will represent a clear narrative throughout the music video, although it may be fairly fragmented, the structure and understanding of the narratology will be coherent to the fun-loving 16-25-year-old audience. The music video will also contain anti-stereotypes. This can be evident due to the group of boys growing older by around 50 years partying, drinking alcohol and doing parkour. This clearly goes against the typical conventions and norms in which elderly people are associated/labelled with within society. Throughout the music video, cuts and movements will be performed in sync with the music video song beat. This will be done in order to create a sense of realism and engagement towards the audience. 


Website


Within my website, I will make sure to follow the typical conventions, colours and styles in order to fit the 16-25 fun-loving target audience. By doing so, the layout of the website will be fairly simplistic, containing many bright, engaging colours in order to further appeal to the fun-loving aspect of the audience. Vocabulary and words will be formal, yet understandable for the 16-25 age demographic. I will also include a menu bar in order at the top of the website page in order to make searching for specific music, tour dates, etc. simple and easy to achieve. The menu bar will contain links to social media's such as Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, etc. as well as tour dates, music, behind the scenes, etc. The artist's logo will be located in several places within the website in order to show clear inter -textual references between both the music video and the website. Furthermore, pictures and imagery will be presented throughout the website in order to engage and entice the audience.  These pictures will be symbolic and captivating, as well as cheerful and fun, thus appealing to the 16-25-year-old fun-loving demographic. I will achieve this by taking pictures of the aged-group posing in a humorous manner. Furthermore, I will present pictures of both the old and young versions of the boys to show contrast between the ages. The music video will be presented immediately when opening up the website. This will be done in order to represent the website as informative and engaging. Also, the use of social media links within the website further appeal to the 16-25-year-old audience since these ages have easy access and knowledge of how to use it. Throughout my second page within the website, i shall include a video of the behind the scenes of the music video. The behind the scenes will contain funny moments, how certain scenes/clips were shot and locations in which we shot the music video. Furthermore, some of the props used within my music video may be used within my website. By doing this, it shows symbolism and provides detail about why the prop/costumes were used. I can achieve this by creating a section within my website containing the props and costumes used, as well as a description as to why they were used within the music video.

In order for the production of the music video and website to seem professional, inter-textuality 
 is extremely important and effective. By cross-branding the artist's logo on both the music video and website, this gives a distinct representation that they are both associated with one another. Furthermore, any inter-textual references within the music video can be used in the website informing why it was used, what its symbolic meaning represents, etc. Colour schemes will also be evidently linked between the two. For example, many shots will be bright, therefore. this will reflect the ideology of joy and happiness within the website by using similar colours, hence being eye-catching and engaging once again. Furthermore, the artist’s name will be represented on both the music video and website. The artist’s name will appear at the beginning of the music video and also the end in order to portray the artist towards the audience/viewer watching the music video. In addition, the behind the scenes and photos will be presented on the website. This links to the music video since those who’ve watched the music video will understand the photos and appreciate the behind the scenes portrayed within the website.

Audience Brief

VAL The audience in which i am targeting fits fairly well with the 'experiencers' VAL. This is due to my music video including scenes of partying and drinking alcohol, thus perhaps fitting with the young generation. This type also tend to get bored easily, which will be represented within the opening of my music video of the group of teenage boys sitting around wondering what to do with their lives. Furthermore, 'experiencers' suits my style of music video since the 'experiencers' are percieved as 'rebellious' and impulsive, which is what will be reflected within my music video due to the group who have aged still doing parkour and partying at around 75 years of age. Once again this goes against the typical stereotypes of an elderly person. YOUNG and RUBICAM The mainstream audience suits my music video conventions and characters.
